Koreans hope to up Lao Cai investment
South Korean investors showed their interest in Viet Nam’s northern Lao Cai Province during a visit to seek investment opportunities there early this week.
Park Dong Uk, deputy director of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency in Ha Noi, said Korean investors were keen on doing business there due to favourable conditions and incentives, and also because the province provides access to the Chinese market with its close proximity.
The Korean official and his entourage learned about the area’s potential for development in agriculture, industry, trade and tourism.
Lao Cai has a wealth of transport links. National Highway 70, is currently being upgraded, the Ha Noi-Lao Cai expressway will be built, as well as the Ha Noi-Lao Cai railway route, providing good infrastructure for transporting goods.
The province serves as a connection between China’s Yunnan Province, Ha Noi and Hai Phong. It has zoned off a number of industrial and commercial areas in order to actively encourage investment in the region.
The delegation visited a number of industrial zones, as well as the Lao Cai international border gate in the province during the course of their fact-finding mission.
