Vinamilk wins first stock exchange award

Dairy producer Vinamilk and Vietcombank won Sunday the first awards for good performance granted by the State Securities Committee (SSC) and the Vietnam Association of Securities Businesses.

The “Prestigious Securities Brand Golden Cup” and “Leading Vietnam Joint Stock Company” awards recognize the winners’ stock market performance and contributions to the national economy, the organizers said.

The board of judges had selected 142 listed and unlisted companies including Vinamilk, Imexpharm, Vietcombank (or Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam) and Techcombank for the awards.

The selection rounds took place from May – October 2008 with the participation of many enterprises including listed companies, unlisted public companies, financial institutions and leading banks in Vietnam.

The organizers said the award winners had donated over VND300 billion (US$18 million) to charity activities nationwide this year.
