Vietnam, Argentina cooperate in power projects

Vietnam and Argentina have agreed to work together to develop wind power and hydro-electricity power projects.

The agreement was reached between the PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PVPower) under the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Industrias Metalurgica Pescarmona S.A.I.C.y F (IMPSA) of Argentina in Hanoi on September 30.

Under the agreement, the two businesses will set up a joint venture to produce and commercialise wind and hydro power equipment, manage power projects and provide maintenance services for this type of equipment.

Both parties will also link up to implement wind power and hydro-electricity power projects in Vietnam’s central Binh Thuan province to meet demands from the domestic market and also to export to the Asia-Pacific region.

Earlier on August 30, PV Power and IMPSA signed a cooperative agreement to build a 1,000MW wind power plant in Binh Thuan province’s Bac Binh district at an estimated cost of US$2.35 billion.
