Stock markets on downward trend
Both the Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi bourses suffered sharp losses with almost all shares falling at the end of the October 7 trading session.
The VN-Index at the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) plunged 19.47 points or 4.48 percent to 414.24 points.
More than 10.2 million shares and fund certificates, worth a total of 349.73 billion VND, changed hands, down 30 percent in both volume and value compared to the previous session.
Up to 153 out of 164 shares and fund certificates declined on the day with 143 falling to floor prices.
The Hanoi Securities Trading Centre’s HaSTC-Index closed the day at 134.98 points, decreasing 8.4 points or 5.86 percent. Only 7.05 million shares were sold at 211.3 billion VND compared with 8.3 million and 274.1 billion VND, respectively, in the previous session.
Among 153 listed shares, only nine gained in value, seven saw no transactions and 137 fell.
