Standards for products imported to the US
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam (VCCI) and the US Underwriter Laboratories Inc (UL) held a seminar in Hanoi on October 1 to introduce procedures for certifying Vietnamese products entering the US market.
The seminar aims to help Vietnamese enterprises grasp the US market’s regulations and various kinds of necessary certifications for imported product standards.
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is a US, non-profit, privately-owned and operated product safety testing and certification organization. UL develops standards and test procedures for products, materials, components, assemblies, tools and equipment, chiefly dealing with product safety.
Currently, UL provides product certifications for more than 75,000 businesses from different countries and has access to most markets around the world.
Addressing the seminar, Director of Conformity Assessment Services Nagendra Bangagin said product certification is the most interesting issue concerning products imported to the US market. Thus, imported products are required to meet all market standards, particularly in terms of poisonous and risky elements.
The seminar was attended by leaders, product designers and export-import staff who want to learn more about standards for products imported to the US market and different types of necessary certifications.
