Economists gather to discuss financial crisis
Over 400 delegates from economics research institutes and universities, business and administration circles gathered at a seminar in Hanoi on Oct. 26 to discuss difficulties and challenges caused by the macroeconomic downturn, and suggest solutions to overcome the situation.
The event, co-organised by the National Economic University, the National Assembly’s Committee for Economic Affairs, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Lien Viet Bank, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.
Addressing the function, Deputy PM Nhan applauded the initiative of organising the event that encouraged joint efforts of the Government, businesses, banks and institutes to overcome the difficulties.
He underscored the Government’s groups of solutions to curb inflation, that helped remarkably reduce the inflation rate and trade deficit and obtain an estimated economic growth rate of 6.5 percent this year, thus creating necessary conditions for a stable growth in the next year.
Reports delivered at the seminar analysed and forecasted the world economic fluctuations and their impacts on Vietnam.
Participants appreciated the Government’s recent efforts but stressed that the solutions are insufficiently potent to help businesses overcome the difficulties.
All the suggestions will be collected and sent to the ongoing 12th National Assembly’s fourth session which lasts until Nov. 15.
