Vinaship launches on HCM City bourse
The Hai Phong-based ocean shipping company Vinaship (VNA) opened on the HCM City Stock Exchange’s board yesterday with a reference price of VND50,000 (US$3.0).
The shipping firm has a chartered capital of VND200 billion ($12 million) with financial institutions holding 20 per cent.
The company operates 17 vessels with a combined capacity of 160,000 DWT. In addition, Vinaship also runs a 20,000 sq.m. storehouse system that began operation in May in Dinh Vu Industrial Park.
Due to its strong relationship with foreign brokerage firms and major importing and exporting companies, such as the Southern Food Corporation, and Ha Tien Cement 1 and 2 companies, Vinaship has steadily increased in profits and performance in recent years. In 2006, the company posted a turnover of VND460 billion, which rose to VND645 billion last year. The figure of this year’s first half was VND442 billion.
Last year, Vinaship netted a profit of VND101 billion, showing a significant rise from its 2006 figure of over VND12 billion.
In the first six months of this year, its net profit was VND56 billion, realising 70 per cent of the year’s target.
Also yesterday the Dong Nai Province-based Sonadezi Long Thanh Holding Company (SZL), which has a charter capital of VND100 billion ($6 million), became the newest listed firm at the HCM City Stock Exchange. Its reference price was VND80,000 ($4.7).
The company operates in areas including investment, development and operation of industrial parks’ technical infrastructure and housing projects, as well as consultancy on project establishment and development.
