Over $6.2 million annually from public bus ads

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said they submitted Sunday a commercial advertising project on public buses to the People’s Committee for perusal.

According to the Department, the total revenue, excluding tax from bus advertising, is expected to reach more than VND104 billion (US$6.2 million) annually.

About 50 percent of the ad money would go to the bus companies, and a total of VND70.3 billion ($4.2 million), which includes enterprise income tax and value added tax, would go to the city budget.

The project is being piloted with Saigon Passenger Bus Company and advertising on all bus routes will be bid on at the start on 2009.

The City’s Department of Finance is assessing the floor price as the basis for bidding, HCMC People’s Committee said.
