HCMC to aid businesses, help stabilize goods prices for Tet

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has approved a VND409 billion (US$25 million) aid package to help nine enterprises store goods during the Tet (lunar New Year) holidays, as a move to stabilize market prices.

Businesses to receive the aid include the Saigon Trading Corporation, Saigon Agriculture Corporation, Commercial Cooperative Union, Saigon Industrial Foodstuff Joint-stock Company and Huynh Gia Huynh De Company.

The city committee has asked recipients to ensure quantity, quality and variety to continually contribute to helping stabilize market prices, especially during high peaks like before, during and after Tet, which falls in late January 2009.

They have also been instructed to sell goods at prices at least 10 percent lower than market prices.
