Dong Nai earns high export revenue from agricultural products

Southern Dong Nai province achieved an export turnover of more than US$4.17 billion in the past eight months, an increase of 25 percent over the same period last year and fulfilling 60 percent of the year’s set target.

Local businesses contributed US$203.7 million (up 23.4 percent), State-owned businesses, US$82.2 million (up 24.6 percent) and the foreign-invested sector, nearly US$3.9 billion (up 25 percent).

Major exports included coffee with about 30,000 tonnes (up 1.4 percent) and honey, almost 2,600 tonnes (up 30 percent). Although the province exported only 6,000 tonnes of cashew nuts, it recorded a 34-percent increase in earnings.

In the foreign-invested sector, electronics, footwear, stationery, garments and textiles products remained key export items which made up more than 90 percent of Dong Nai’s total export turnover.

However, the province also imported products worth over US$5.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 33.2 percent. Foreign-invested businesses’ import value reached approximately US$5.4 billion, 33.5 percent above the previous year’s corresponding period.
