Northern province seeks investment for 56 projects
The northern mountainous province of Son La has listed 56 projects to call for investment from both domestic and foreign investors until 2020.
Of these, 19 projects targeted for 2008-2010 are in need of an estimated 1.51 trillion VND (around 91.5 million USD), and 37 others scheduled for the next decade require a total of 3.03 trillion VND (183.5 million USD).
The listed projects focus on agro-forestry product producing and processing, animal husbandry, building materials production, small- and medium hydro-electric power plants, tourism and services.
Worthy of note is an ecotourism project that is designed to tap the ecological environment at the Son La hydroelectric plant reservoir, cultures of ethnic groups living along the Da River banks, and adventure tourism in the area.
Another project will build a general hospital with 500 beds to improve health care services for the local people.
Son La has so far attracted close to 13.7 trillion VND in 57 projects, of which 40 projects totalling 1.11 trillion VND have become operational.
