Trading volumes hit records on July 16 session
The domestic stock market witnessed a very busy session this morning with trading volume records established on both bourses. Ending the session, a total of nearly 38.7 million shares and fund certificates were traded on the southern bourse for a total value of VND 1.35 trillion, including over 37 million traded via order matching worth VND 1,245 billion.
Investors' confidence in the market was challenged in this session as sudden high increase of securities offers sometimes pulled the VN-Index down. However, the high equivalent bids helped VN-Index have its seven consecutive gaining session.
The VN-Index closed at 486.53 points, up 6.73 points or 1,4%. It is on its way to claim the 500-point mark.
Of the large-cap stocks, only VNM declined by VND 3,000 a share to VND 120,000 a share. Other stocks ITA, PVD, FPT, DPM, HPG, PPC and STB were all gainers.
STB of Sacombank also topped the list of most traded stocks with a record 6.6 million units matched, followed by DPM, over 3.1 million units; VF1, nearly 2.3 million units and HPG, over 2 million units.
The market ended with 98 gainers, 42 decliners and 16 stayed still.
The Hanoi bourse also experienced a very busy session with a record in trading volume: over 19.3 million shares successfully matched for over VND 586 billion in this session.
The HASTC-Index is approaching the 150 point mark as it continued to gain sharply today, up 4.91 points (or 3.44%) to 147.74.
There were 122 gainers against 13 losers; five stayed unchanged and two others reported no trade.
