Telecom joint-venture with Russia kicks off
The GTel Global Telecommunications Corporation on July 8 signed a contract with the Vimpel-Com group of Russia to set up a joint-stock company to provide telecommunications services.
Under the contract, GTel holds 60 percent of the freshly-set GTel Mobile joint-stock company and the Russian partner, 40 percent.
The signing ceremony was honoured with the presence of Minister of Public Security Gen. Le Hong Anh and Minister of Information and Communications Le Doan Hop of Vietnam and the Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieut. Gen. Dang Van Hieu said the establishment of the joint-venture was part of a strategy of partnership between Vietnam and Russia , contributing to traditional friendship between the two countries.
GTel executives said the joint-venture would provide its customers with all telecommunications services available in the market, ranging from fixed phone to mobile phone networks, additional services, broad-band internet services, information security services, application software VOIP and Wimax.
