Steel consumption in June reduced sharply
Only nearly 250,000 tonnes of construction steel were sold in June, down 60,000 tonnes against May, according to the Vietnam Steel Association.
Thus, June was the month that saw the sharpest decline in steel consumption so far.
One of the reasons, according to the association, is that the southern region is entering the rainy season, therefore, many constructions works in the region have been temporarily halted. In addition, the State's strict examination of investment projects and close credit control from banks to borrowing partners is also another reason.
Currently, a tonne of steel delivered at the factory and excluding discount and value added tax is sold at VND 16.6-16.7 million w in the southern region. The price is VND 1.-1.1 million lower in the north.
