HSBC introduces Vietnam to Japanese businesses
The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) on July 25 held a seminar on Vietnam’s economy to help Japanese businesses get a better understanding about its opportunities and challenges.
At the seminar, HSBC economist Prakriti Sofat spoke about current disadvantages the Vietnamese economy faces, such as inflation.
The HSBC economist said reducing economic growth and forwarding long-term economic growth instead of pursuing short-term gains is the key for Vietnam to resolve its current economic difficulties.
However, Sofat voiced optimism about long-term prospects of the Vietnamese economy, saying the situation has been improved due to government policies. She said Vietnam remains an important and attractive market.
The economist also predicted that foreign direct investment (FDI) flows into Vietnam will focus on sectors such as manufacturing, real estate and retail during the next two years.
Also at the seminar, Head of Global Banking of HSBC Vietnam Loic Faussier outlined the bank’s operations in Vietnam as well as its business strategy in the country.
