First of merger marked with donation

Global freight company Damco has donated two classrooms to the Hoa Mai orphanage in Dong Nai Province to mark its first year of operation as a merged entity.

Damco was formed in July last year through a merger between Dutch freight forwarding company Damco Sea & Air and the forwarding arm of Denmark-based DSL Star Express.

Damco Vietnam General Manager Sandeep Choudhary said the outlook for the company, and Vietnam’s freight forwarding sector, was good.

Damco Vietnam posted a 54 percent year-on-year increase in revenue and a 24 percent increase in its client base over the same period, Choudhary said, without disclosing the figures.

The company has more than 200 offices across more than 100 countries, with a global workforce of 3,900 employees.

Last year, Damco shipped 621,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) globally, to generate turnover of more than US$2.9 billion.
