Brazil interested in investment in Vietnam

Vietnam is an emerging nation and the Brazil will encourage trade exchange and study of possibility for investment, particularly in bio-fuel, in the Southeast Asian country, a senior Brazilian official has said.

Marco Aurelio Garcia, advisor on foreign relations to Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, highlighted the two countries’ same views on bilateral economic development with promotion of social progress. Brazil was interested in enhancing cooperation with Vietnam in the biofuel field, he added.

Garcia is accompanying President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva during the President’s first visit to Vietnam from July 9-10.

Trade between Brazil and Vietnam unceasingly rose in recent years from 113.8 million USD in 2005 to 204 million USD in 2006 and 323.2 million USD in 2007. In the first six months of this year, trade between the two countries reached 276 million USD, of which Brazil exported goods worth 175.6 million USD to Vietnam.
