Trading volumes up sharply, HASTC-Index recovers after string of decreases
The domestic stock market has seen initial signals of recovery today on both bourses as the number of gainers increased; trading volumes were also up sharply. The index of the northern bourse even managed a 0.72% increase, ending its string of 28 decreases.
On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, up to 79 out of the total 154 listed stocks were in the list of gainers, while 67 moved to the reversing direction and only eight stayed unchanged.
Though the number of gainers increased but most of them were small stocks with the current prices of below VND 20,000 a share, the VN-Index of the Ho Chi Minh City kept declining, though at a smaller loss of only 0.68% or 2.55 points, closing at 370.45.
The trading volume on today's session increased impressively with over 11.2 million shares and fund certificates traded via order matching for VND 297 billion.
Almost all large-cap stocks were still in the decliners' list, including VNM, STB, DPM, PPC, HPG, FPT, SSI and PVD.
STB claimed the top position in the list of most traded stocks with over 2.7 million units matched, followed by DPM (nearly 1.9 million units matched), VFMVF1 (628,570 units matched), PPC (348,560 units matched) and PRUBF1 (311,550 units matched.)
The atmosphere was better in the northern bourses as the HASTC-Index managed the first gain after 28 declining sessions.
The HASTC-Index added 0.78 points more to close at 108.54 points. Total market volume was nearly 6 million units worth VND 123.5 billion.
Up to 88 stocks listed on the bourse reported gains while only 37 were in the red list and 14 other stayed unchanged.
The northern bourse today welcomed one more stock, L43, of the Lilama 45.3 Joint Stock Company. The company listed 3.5 million shares on the northern bourse. Ending its first trading session, over 28,000 L43 shares were traded at an average price of VND 15,400 a share.
