Tighter control over drug prices in four provinces and cities
The Head of the Department for Pharmaceutical Products Control under the Ministry of Health, Truong Quoc Cuong on June 9 decided to set up a working team consisting of representatives from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to control drug prices in Hanoi, HCM City, Binh Duong and Dong Nai.
They will assess positive and negative aspects of medical producers, importers and exporters and hospitals in the first half of this year so that a forecast of drug prices can be made after June 30.
Recently, the Department for Pharmaceutical Products Control halted the granting of a drug import permit to the Tra Vinh Pharmaceutical Product Joint Stock Company for three months.
The reason was that the company automatically increased the prices of 11 types of drugs by 5-38 percent compared to the regulated prices without declaring this to the Tra Vinh Health Department.
