More stocks hit ceiling prices, VN-Index increases for fourth straight day
The number of stocks that gained kept increasing today with 150 out of the 155 listed stocks on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange advanced, 149 of them hitting ceiling prices.
Investors seemed to have reshown their interest in the market as bids far exceeded offers as the State Securities Commission has announced their widening of trading bands for southern and northern bourses by 1% each, to 3% and 4%, respectively.
The VN-Index continued to increase for the fourth consecutive day, up 1.72% or 6.51 points to close at 384.71.
Nearly 7.5 million shares and fund certificates were matched for VND 253 billion. In addition, investors also traded 1.2 million shares and 1 million bonds via put-through deals for VND 173 billion.
The Hanoi bourse also reported 127 gainers, almost all of them were traded at ceiling prices while only 9 stocks were decliners, plus two stocks stayed unchanged and one other had no trade.
Few investors wanted to sell while many rushed to place buying orders. Ending the session, there were many bids left while offers were empty in almost all stocks.
The HASTC-Index closed up 1.88%, or 2.14 points, to 115.95. Trading volume stood at 1.7 million shares worth VND 49 billion.
