Stock market falls deeper
The domestic stock market opened the new week with sharp drops on both bourses on news that the State Bank of Vietnam insists commercial banks to buy treasury bills as scheduled (which falls today) without any delays.
Only two stocks managed gains while 149 saw sharp declines which most of them hit floor prices, two others stayed still, pulling the VN-Index deeper down. Closing the session, the VN-Index lost 28.09 points (4.36% out of the maximum 5% allowed) to finish at 615.71.
Total market volume was 17.8 million worth nearly VND 1.23 trillion. These include 12.7 shares and fund certificates worth VND 699 billion and 5.1 million bonds worth VND 530 billion.
In the northern bourse, the HASTC-Index also suffered a sharp loss of 14.53 points or 6.47% out of the maximum 10% to close at 210.16.
Total trading volume was 5.2 million shares worth VND 277 billion.
Only three stocks were in green while four were in yellow and 123 in red.
The northern bourse today welcomed two more stocks, B82 of 482 Joint Stock Company and SRB of Sara Joint Stock Company, bringing the total number of listed stocks in the bourse to 132.
B82 listed all its 1.5 million shares. On its first trading session, investors changed hands 15,800 B82 shares at an average price of VND 43,500 a share.
SRB also listed all its 5.65 million shares on the HASTC. As many as 174,600 SRB shares were traded on its first trading session at an average price of VND 15,100 a share.
