Stock market closes the week with slight drop
After two slight consecutive increases, the domestic stock market closed the week today with slight drops on both bourses.
The VN-Index of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange lost 3.7 points, equal to the points it gained yesterday (3.8 points), closing at 643.80.
Investors changed hands over 12.4 million shares, investment funds certificates and bonds worth VND 798 billion this session.
There were reportedly 101 losers against 28 gainers out of the total 153 listed stocks.
Though the number of losers outstripped that of gainers, the VN-Index only dropped slightly because the top ten large-cap stocks did not see much change. Specifically, three of them maintained their reference prices, three gained and four decreased slightly.
In total, with three gaining and two declining sessions this week, the VN-Index closed up 3.66 points. It is noteworthy that trading volumes and values in all the five sessions throughout the week remained at high levels.
In Hanoi, the HASTC-Index also dropped slightly by 2.82 points to close the week at 224.69 with turnover of 3.5 million shares worth VND 208 billion.
As many as 123 stocks lost while only 12 gained and five others stayed unchanged.
In total, the market indicator of the northern bourse dropped by 0.86 points this week with three improved and two losing sessions.
