VNPT ready to equitise telecom subsidiaries

The Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) is hastening preparations for the equitisation of all telecom subsidiaries, according to a senior official from the group.

The Viet Nam Mobile Telecom Services Company (MobiFone), a subsidiary of VNPT, is choosing consultant for its equitisation through tender, said Pham Long Tran, Acting President of VNPT’s Board of Directors.

Equitisation is currently underway for the group’s member firms involving in construction and industry.

According to Deputy Minister of Information and Telecommunications Tran Duc Lai, VNPT has conducted equitisation for more than 40 affiliates, most of them are small companies.

He warned that at this pace, it is difficult for VNPT to fulfill its equitisation plan for MobiFone in 2008, urging the group to speed up its equitisation progress.
