Vietnam’s Cat Loi gains most in four months on profit increase
Cat Loi Joint-Stock Co., the only tobacco-related business trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, rose the most in four months after it reported a 39 percent increase in profit.
The Ho Chi Minh City-based company posted profit of VND45.5 billion (US$2.9 million) last year, according to the exchange’s daily bulletin today.
The figure in 2006 was VND32.8 billion ($2 million), according to a statement posted on the exchange’s website.
“Some tobacco manufacturers are increasing exports to the Middle East and we have more orders from them,” said Cu Manh Dat, a spokesman for the company.
The cigarette-filter producer climbed VND2,300, or 5 percent, to VND48,300, the biggest advance since September 25.
