VNPT raise international call rates

The Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) announced that new charges will apply for foreign mobile subscribers, who use its international roaming service from November 1.

The service allows foreign mobile users in Viet Nam to make and receive calls from countries who have international roaming agreements with VNPT’s VinaPhone and MobiFone networks without having to change SIM cards and phone numbers.

Charges for international phone calls made during normal hours (6am-11m, Monday to Saturday) will be 0.054 or 0.060 USD for the first six seconds, depending on the destination. Each additional second will cost a further 0.009 USD or 0.010.

During off-peak hours (11pm-6am), Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday and holidays), subscribers stand to be charged 0.042 USD for the first six seconds and 0.007 USD for each additional second to receive international calls.

The charges are value-added-tax exclusive, said the company.

At present, the company’s subscribers who utilise GSM technology (VinaPhone and MobiFone networks) are able to call 241 countries and territories worldwide.
