Industries make impressive growths in 8 months
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said many industries gained high growth rates in the first 8 months of this year, contributing to the industrial sector’s overall growth rate of 7.3%.
The growth rate of 14.3% was recorded by the fibre and textile industry, 16.3% by garment, 14.6% by fertilizer, 22.8% by prefabricated metal product, 16.9% by motorbike production, and 10.1% by electricity production and distribution.
According to the Electricity Việt Nam, 66 billion kWh was generated in the 8-month period, up 9.9% year on year. Meanwhile, over 1.2 million tons of crude oil were brought ashore; and 29 million tons of coal were mined, up 3.9%.
From January and August, Việt Nam made garment and textile export turnovers of nearly US $9 billion, up 28.6%; garment export turnover of roughly US $4.2 billion, up 29.2%.
The ministry is asking enterprises to renew technologies, improve management, use domestic materials and machines, use energy efficiently, speed up production, and supervise the implementation of investment projects, especially key ones, to grow further.
