State-owned corporations lose over $55 mln in 2009: Auditors
According to a report issued Tuesday by state auditors, three state-owned corporations of Vietnam had losses totaling nearly VND1.15 trillion (US$55.2 million) in 2009.
Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group posted the greatest loss of VND1.02 trillion, followed by Vietnam Machinery Erection Corporation (Lilama) with VND 103 billion, said auditors who inspected 27 state-owned businesses, including 24 corporations.
Song Hong Corporation, meanwhile, lost VND20.64 billion, it said.
In its report, the State Audit Office of Vietnam also pointed out that among four inspected financial organizations, Agribank Financial Leasing Company lost over VND3 trillion, 8.5 times higher than its charter capital.
The State Bank of Vietnam was audited as well.
Following their findings, auditors proposed a variety of actions including that the government and the National Assembly reduce expenditures by VND2.5 trillion, and require organizations to submit nearly VND8 trillion.
