Sales of goods, service up 22.1 per cent last month
The national total retail sales of goods and services last month reached nearly VND150 trillion (US$7.1 billion), a year-on-year increase of 22.1 per cent, the General Statistics Office reported.
The growth would be 8.9 per cent if the factor of rising prices were excluded, the statistics office said.
Of this number, trade business gained VND118.3 trillion ($5.6 billion), surging by 23.1 per cent over the same month last year, and retail sales of hotels and restaurants was up 17.6 per cent to VND16.4 trillion ($781 million).
The service sector gained VND13.6 trillion ($647 million), a year-on-year rise of 19.6 per cent. Revenue from the tourist sector was VND1.5 trillion ($71 million), up 14.5 per cent against the same period last year.
The statistics office also announced that Government revenue in the first half of last month was at 4 per cent of the yearly estimate; domestic revenue accounted for 4.4 per cent of the total revenue; revenues from crude oil and import-export were 3.6 per cent and 3 per cent respectively.
In a breakdown of domestic revenue, state-owned enterprises contributed 4.8 per cent, FDI enterprises (Excluding crude oil) contributed 4 per cent, contributions of non-state industrial, commercial and service taxes was 4.4 per cent, tax on high-income earners was 3.1 per cent, petroleum fees 4.3 per cent and other fees 3.7 per cent.
The statistics office also reported that total Government expenditure in the first half of January was equal to 3.4 per cent of the yearly estimate, of which spending for investment and development accounted for 2.6 per cent.
The numbers were 3.9 per cent for economic and social development, national defence and security and 3.7 per cent for paying debts and aid.
