Vietnam among the fastest growing air transport markets: IATA

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced on February 14 that the number of passengers will increase to 800 million in the next four years.

Vietnam, China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Malaysia and Sri Lanka are among nations with the highest rates of more than 25 percent (Around 214 million passengers).

According to IATA, there will be 3.3 billion of air travelers by 2014, up 32 percent compared to the previous year’s figure. Therefore, international airlines need to upgrade airport facilities, and improve the transport management system.

In another development, the General Statistics Department (GSO) reported that the number of foreign arrivals to Vietnam in January surpassed 500,000, an increase of 17.4 percent over the same month of last year.

The tourism sector is expected to welcome 5.3 million foreign visitors this year.
