Green architecture firms applauded

Asia's leading construction solution provider BCI has ranked Viet Nam's top 10 architecture projects for 2010.

They include the Phu My Apartment and Retail Complex 1, British-Vietnamese International School, Vietinbank Tower in HCM City, and the Coalimex Building and Bac An Khanh New Urban Zone in Ha Noi, and the Dic Galaxy Golf Hotel in Ba Ria Vung Tau Province.

This was announced during a ceremony held in HCM City on Friday evening.

Construction on these elite architecture works worth US$6.1 billion is scheduled to begin this year.

"The top 10 architecture firms are fulfilling corporate objectives for a modern, green architecture," said Dr Matthias Krups, Chairman of BCI Asia.

Among the country's 10 most active architecture firms named in the Viet Nam's BCI Asia Top Awards for 2010 are Aedas Viet Nam Ltd., I.C.P International Technical Construction Consultant Co., Ltd., Ong & Ong Co., Ltd., and RSP Architects Planners and Engineers Viet Nam Co., Ltd.

Around 150 architects, designers, senior executives and leading professionals in building and property development industry were presented with the BCI Green Design Award 2010 and FuturArc Prize 2010.

The Green Design Award is given for leading green builders in Asia, with award entries in residential architecture, including individual and multiple houses, commercial architecture, institutional architecture and interior architecture.

The entries are from countries and territories, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand and South Korea.

A Vietnamese entry, the Town Hall Complex in Chau Doc Township in An Giang Province, designed by T.A.D Architectura, was given a special mention.

The FuturArc Prize is for new paradigms for sustainable living. Three entrants from Viet Nam were honoured with citations, the Doan Thanh Ha's group, Cuong Le Vu's group and Hoang Anh Tuan's group.

Ceremonies for the 6th BCI Asia Top Award were also held in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
