Schneider to remove acquired brands
France-based electric giant Schneider will remove brands that it acquired and replace them with a unique Schneider in Vietnamese market, said a source from the group.
The brands like Clipsal, APC, Merlin Gerin, Telemecanique, Merten, Pelco and TAC will disappear from Vietnamese market in the next three years.
Clipsal has been used for electronic equipments like switches and sockets manufactured in a plant located in Dong Nai Province since 1997. Schneider acquired the plant in 2005 and invested in it to support the world wide customers.
John Tran, general manager of Installation System and Control of Clipsal-Vtec Corporation, said it was more efficient for the group in management and marketing activities if it unified the acquired brands.
Tran said the move would affect the group’s sales in Vietnam as local customers were used to the brands for years.
Tran told Thanh Nien Weekly the group, which specializes in electronic equipments and solutions and automation control, would also unify more than 120 brands it acquired around the globe.
Demand of electronic equipments and solutions was growing with Vietnam’s economic development, said Tran.
