Three firms suspended for pollution near southern coast
Three seafood processors in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province were suspended Tuesday for discharging untreated wastewater into local rivers.
Gia Hoa and Thanh Dat Companies in Tan Thanh District have been discharging toxic wastewater into water supplies without treating it, provincial authorities said.
The companies had also not made any efforts to build a treatment plant despite requests from local agencies.
The province People’s Committee has also halted operations at the April 30th Company in the town of Vung Tau after the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment blacklisted the company as a “severe polluter."
