High-tech park opens wastewater treatment facility
Ho Chi Minh City’s Saigon High-Tech Park opened its first wastewater treatment plant on Thursday after five years of construction.
The plant will treat 5,000 cubic meters of wastewater discharged each day by businesses at the park (SHTP) in District 9, said representatives from SHTP.
Work on the state-owned VND74 billion (US$4.13 million) plant started in 2004
In related news, officers from the South Korean Ministry of Environment have signed a contract with the People’s Committee in the Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang Province to cooperate on building treatment plants for household wastewater and rain in the provincial capital of My Tho.
The project will include 201 kilometers of pipelines to carry wastewater and 155 kilometers for rain water.
The project is planned to last until 2020 and cost $133 million, 80 percent of which would be supplied by Official Development Aid (ODA) from the South Korean government.
