City seeks French support for metro project
Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday called for French support in building its third metro route.
Le Hoang Quan, chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, made the request at a meeting with a visiting delegation from MEDEF International (Movement of the French Enterprises).
He said the city had found official development assistance (ODA) capital for the first and second routes, and the fourth route was being considered by the Spanish government, he added.
The French business mission is led by Frederic Sanchez, chairman of the MEDEF International’s Franco-Vietnamese Business Council.
HCMC plans to build six metro routes with a total length of 107 kilometers by 2020. Work began early this year on stations for the first route linking Ben Thanh (District 1) and Suoi Tien (District 9).
