26 Vietnamese businesses to take part in Int’l Aquiculture Fair in US
Twenty-six members of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) will participate in the Boston International Aquiculture Fair in the US from March 15-17.
During the annual fair, the country’s businesses will display export goods and advertise documents and images of them. They expect to seek new partners from other markets, especially the US.
Vietnam is one of 10 leading aquatic export countries in the world and its exporting aquaculture brought US$4.5 billion to the country in 2008. Vietnam’s main aquatic export markets, including the US, EU, Japan and the Republic of Korea, occupy 50 percent of its total export turnover.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s plan, Vietnam will continue to explore those markets above and diversify other markets.
According to the statistics of the US’s Department of Commerce, Vietnam’s aquatic exports to the US cost total US$761 million in 2008, ranking fourth in terms of garments, wood furniture and footwear value.
The Boston International Aquiculture Fair is one of the most prestigious aquatic fairs in the world. In 2008, the fair attracted 870 units, including importers and distributors from 52 countries and territories worldwide.
