Warner Bros. arrives in Vietnamese market
US film maker Warner Bros. Thursday entered the Vietnamese market with its portfolio of branded movie and animation characters with the appointment of Global Brands Group as licensing agent for Indochina.
It also announced CTY CP Nhan Hieu Toan Cau would be the sub-licensing partner.
Warner Bros. will seek to expand business in Vietnam for its properties like Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Harry Potter, Batman, Superman, ScoobyDoo, and others.
The agent would look for branding opportunities in publishing, apparel, accessories, toys, stationery, gifts, novelties, food and personal care products, a Warner Bros. official said.
The filmmaker would screen its movies and hold a series of trade shows to promote its brands, the official added.
Cynthia Tran, the sub-agent’s business development director, said the Warner Bros. characters are well-known in Vietnam and have been widely used without license from the owner.
Warner Bros. has so far licensed four Vietnamese businesses in the publishing, paper and apparel industries to use Tom & Jerry and Superman in Vietnam, according to CTY CP Nhan Hieu Toan Cau.
