RoK investors keen on Lao Cai
Investors from the Republic of Korea view Vietnam ’s northern Lao Cai province as an attractive proposition as it offers favourable conditions and incentives for their businesses, an official from the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) has said.
During a fact-finding tour to the province on Dec. 22, Park Dong Uk , Deputy Director of the KOTRA Hanoi office, informed the local authorities that RoK investors are also keen on conducting business in Lao Cai as it has border gates with China and provides a route into the Chinese market.
The Korean official and his entourage were briefed on the area’s potential for development in agriculture, industry, trade and tourism.
Lao Cai possesses a further advantage in its wealth of transport links, with national highway 70, which is currently being upgraded and the impending Ha Noi-Lao Cai expressway, as well as the well-managed Hanoi-Lao Cai railway route.
In addition to these strengths, the province’s location is another boon, as it is situated on an economic corridor connecting China ’s Kunming with Hanoi and Hai Phong port city in Vietnam . It offers a gateway to China , particularly Yunnan province, and has zoned off a number of industrial and commercial areas in order to actively encourage investment in the region.
The KOTRA delegation visited a number of industrial zones, as well as the Lao Cai international border gate in the province during the course of their fact-finding mission.
