Anti-dumping lawsuit against Vietnamese shoes in Brazil

The Brazilian Trade Protection Agency has recently handled the petition of the Brazilian Shoes Industry Association (Abicalcado) on carrying out an anti-dumping investigation against Vietnamese-originated shoes exported to Brazil.

Cited from a source at the Vietnamese Commercial Affairs Office in Brazil, the Competition Control Agency, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, revealed the above news on Thursday.

Accordingly, Vietnamese shoes with leather caps, footwear made by rubber latex, with rubber and leather soles, coded from 6420 to 6405 (except for 6402.12.00, 6402.20.00, 6403.12.00, 6403.20.20) will be inquired for anti-dumping.

Nguyen Thi Tong, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso), said the volume of footwear exported to Brazil is unremarkable.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s footwear export revenue from Brazil was nearly US $40 million in the January-November period of 2008.
