Circular for Tourism Law to be issued next week
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will issue a circular guiding the implementation of the Tourism Law soon to make life easier for enterprises, especially those foreign travel firms now waiting to set up shop here, the minister said.
Minister Hoang Tuan Anh told the Daily on the phone on Tuesday that he would sign the draft into the formal circular next week.
“The draft circular is ready and I will sign it next week when I go back to Hanoi from HCMC,” he said to the Daily while attending a meeting in HCMC on Tuesday.
Due to the absence of the circular, foreign travel companies cannot seek licenses for opening their representative offices in the country, and other foreign offices operating on old licenses have problems renewing their old licenses.
The Tourism Law also requires all tour guides to apply for new practicing certificates but the tourism sector cannot do the job now due to the same reason.
The Tourism Law was endorsed by the National Assembly in late 2005, and the Government issued a guiding decree in June last year, but ever since, provincial administrative authorities as well as enterprises have been waiting for a circular to no avail.
Under Vietnam’s legislative process, a law is passed by the National Assembly, then the Government will issue a decree providing general guidelines for the law before a competent ministry brings out a circular to give guidance in detail.
