Going ahead with high quality rice growing project

The southern Kien Giang provincial People Committee has approved a project to grow high quality rice on an area of 100,000ha.

The committee urged businesses to negotiate with farmers on investment and purchasing methods from now to 2010.

Accordingly, farmers and businesses will sign contracts in each crop and the purchasing price will be agreed on both sides according to the market price plus 3 percent. Businesses will provide rice varieties and cultivation techniques for farmers.
