Vietnam sees nearly 4 million international tourists in first two months of 2025

Vietnam welcomed 3.96 million international visitors in January and February, marking a 30.2-percent increase from the same period last year, with arrivals from China and South Korea leading the way, according to the General Statistics Office.

China remained the top source market, contributing 956,000 visitors, followed by South Korea with 850,000.

In February alone, the country recorded 1.9 million foreign arrivals, reaching 90 percent of January’s figure. South Korea overtook China in February, with nearly 470,000 arrivals.

Other key markets, including Taiwan, the U.S., Japan, and Malaysia, also saw growth ranging from five to nearly 40 percent.

Russia re-entered Vietnam’s top 10 source markets, while the UK made its first appearance in the ranking in February since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of Polish and Swiss visitors also rose compared to early 2024, a trend expected to continue as citizens of these countries now benefit from Vietnam’s short-term visa exemption.

Favorable visa policies, along with tourism promotion efforts and international tourism awards, played a key role in boosting visitor numbers, the General Statistics Office noted.

Vietnam has set a target of 22-23 million international arrivals for 2025, and many experts believe the country is on track to achieve it, given the current growth rate.
