Ha Noi tax revenue urged to surpass year's target
The Ha Noi Taxation Department should continue to ensure high efficiency in tax collection and management, said Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai.
Speaking at an online meeting to review the Ha Noi Taxation Department's performance in 2015 and set tasks for 2016, Mai urged Ha Noi to exceed 2016's target by 8 to 10 per cent, a target which has yet to be set by the Government.
Mai said the department should strengthen tax inspection activities and accelerate administrative reforms with the ultimate objective of providing favourable conditions for enterprises during their transactions with taxation offices.
She said the department should continue to help enterprises increase their production, adding that tax officials need to focus their efforts on medium and large-d enterprises, particularly those involved in real estate.
Mai added that the application of information technology was one of the key reforms needed in the administration of taxation.
Time and costs spent on completing procedures in taxation had already been significantly reduced thanks to a series of measures promoting administrative reform, including the application of IT in tax management, she said.
The Ha Noi Taxation Department should focus on the training of tax officials to improve the quality of human resources, Mai said.
According Director of the Hanoi Taxation Department Ha Minh Hai, Ha Noi's tax revenue as of December 31, 2015 reached over VND141.6 trillion (US$ 6.3 billion), which exceeded 2015's target by 9.8 per cent.
As many as 98 per cent of businesses in the city used online tax filing procedures and 93 per cent made online tax payments as of the end of 2015, Hai said.
