Motorbike Association prepares for debut
The first five members of the Viet Nam Motorbike Association (VMA) will mark the debut of the new industry body in February.
Founding members Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, SYM, and Piaggio account for more than 95 per cent of the Vietnamese market.
Honda controls the largest proportion of 70 per cent, followed by Yamaha, SYM, Suzuki and Piaggio. The five joint ventures began sharing sales data last year.
One VMA member explained that the association grew out of a shared desire for a unified industry policy lobbying voice and an equitable competitive environment.
