Shares turn to recover after yesterday's losses

Shares on the HCM City Stock Exchange managed to rally in last trading minutes, with the benchmark Vn-Index gaining 0.13 per cent to 484.50 points.

Trading value and volume eased compared to yesterday morning's session, reaching VND398.1 billion (US$18.9 million) and 22 million shares.

The VN30, representing the southern city's top shares, added 0.37 per cent to reach 550.32 points. Half of these blue chips closed in the green, especially rubber company Casumina (CSM) and steelmaker Hoa Phat (HPG), which posted the highest increases of 3.8 and 4.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, the HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange advanced by 0.15 per cent, fetching 59.98 points although decliners outnumbered losers.

Trading was sluggish with nearly 12.5 million shares worth just VND92.27 billion ($4.3 million) changing hands.

The HNX30, composed of the bourse's leading shares in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, also rose 0.3 per cent to 112.66 points.

Trading will resume at 1 pm.
