VN-Index recovers to above 410

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index escaped losing trend to rebound on July 5 with support from some blue-chip stocks while liquidity still has not improved.

The gauge of 302 companies and six mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange recovered 0.75 percent, or 3.1 points, to close at 413.83 points.

On the benchmark, there were 152 advancers, 87 decliners, while 69 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse rose by 14 percent in volume, and 30.7 percent in value over the previous trading session as more than 31.52 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND463.83 billion.

Tan Tao Investment Industrial Joint Stock Company (ITA) was the most active share in volume with 1.56 million shares changing hands.

The runner-up was Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) with 1.44 million shares, followed by Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) with 1.33 million shares.

Ben Thanh Rubber Joint Stock Company (BRC), Hoa Sen Group (HSG), and Ninh Van Bay Travel Real Estate Joint Stock Company (NVT) all jumped 5 percent to close at VND10,500, VND16,800, and VND4,200 respectively.

Vietnam Electricity Construction Joint Stock Corporation (VNE) capped its three-day losing run, rising 4.92 percent to close at VND6,400.

South Logistics Joint Stock Company (STG) rallied 4.91 percent to close at VND17,100.

Duc Thanh Wood Processing Joint Stock Company (GDT) plummeted 5 percent to close at VND17,100.

Foreign Trade Development & Investment Corporation (FDC) ditched 4.91 percent to close at VND21,300.

Bank for Investment & Development of Vietnam Securities Company (BSI) slashed 4.84 percent to close at VND5,900.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – revived 3.4 points, or 0.7 percent, to end at 488.82. Among its 30 members, 20 stocks gained, 2 lost, and 8 remained unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north salvaged 2.54 percent, or 1.73 points, to close at 69.81 points with 187 winners, 64 losers, and 42 stocks treading water. Around 39.35 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND336.43 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares surged 0.6 percent, or 0.22 points, to close at 36.66 points. A total of 340,762 shares changed hands at VND3.07 billion.
