VN-Index rallies second day

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index climbed the second trading session on June 6 as construction, real estate, mining, and securities stocks rallied, buoying market.

The index which tracks 303 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange sprang 1.28 per cent, or 5.37 points, to close at 426.39 points.

Across the benchmark, 196 stocks rose, 68 dropped, while 44 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse fell by 36 per cent in volume, and nearly 28.5 per cent in value over the previous trading session as more than 91.5 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.74 trillion.

Sacombank Securities Joint Stock Company (SBS) won the race for the spot of most active share in volume with 2.13 million shares changing hands.

Licogi 16 Joint Stock Company (LCG) came next with 2.03 million shares.

Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) ran after with 1.84 million shares traded.

Bibica Corporation (BBC), Dream House Investment Corporation (DRH), Ben Tre Forestry & Aqua Product Import Export Joint Stock Company (FBT), and Ocean Group Joint Stock Company (OGC) were among the biggest winners on the city bourse today.

Binh Duong Trade and Development Joint Stock Company (TDC) sank 15.38 per cent to close at VND11,000. The company will pay dividend to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 20 per cent from June 28.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau House Development Joint Stock Company (HDC) diminished 11.58 per cent to close at VND16,800. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders by shares at a ratio of 15 per cent.

Viet An Joint Stock Company (AVF) ditched 9.63 per cent to close at VND12,200. The company will pay dividends to its current shareholders in cash at a ratio of 15 per cent on July 12.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – mounted 6.09 points, or 1.22 per cent, to end at 504.11. Among its 30 members, 25 stocks enhanced, and 5 weakened.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north ticked up 0.27 per cent, or 0.2 points, to close at 73.78 points with 152 winners, 76 losers, and 69 stocks treading water. Around 36.07 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND349.64 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares cut 0.25 per cent, or 0.09 points, to close at 35.77 points. A total of 257,325 shares changed hands at VND1.52 billion.
