Trade turnover with Mexico drastically up
Trade turnover with Mexico sharply increased in the first quarter of this year thanks to efforts by the two countries in trade promotion, said a report released by the Trade Office of the Viet Nam Embassy in Mexico.
It was reported the export turnover with Mexico reached more than US$292.6 million in the quarter, an increase of nearly 36.5 per cent over the same period last year.
In the first three months of this year, Viet Nam imported Mexican goods worth more than $17.8 million, up by 47.2 per cent on the corresponding period last year.
The embassy's commercial counsellor in Mexico Hoang Anh Dung said the export and import turnover between the two countries had grown thanks to the self-motivation of domestic enterprises and the Mexican Government's Eastern orientation policy. The latter included a presidential decree on improving the Mexican economy's competitiveness and reducing tax on 200 commodities at the country's bordergate economic zone.
Since January 16, Mexico has applied a one-door foreign trade policy, allowing enterprises to lodge business documents and complete procedures electronically at the bordergate.
The bilateral trade exchange between the two countries last year was more than $1 trillion
