Shares continue slide
Shares extended their losing streak on the nation's two stock exchanges this morning.
On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index edged down 0.95 per cent to 475.54 points. Losers overwhelmed gainers by 224-31.
Trading value reached 55.7 per cent of last Friday's entire session, totalling VND947.4 billion (US$45 million), as the volume of trades reached 60 million.
The VN30, which tracks the city's 30 leading shares in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, also lost nearly 1.2 per cent, standing at 541.46 points.
Blue chips tumbled, with HCM City Infrastructure Investment Co (CII), Petrovietnam Drilling and Well Services Co (PVD) and property developers Dig Corp (DIG) and Quoc Cuong Gia Lai (QCG) hitting their bottom.
Of the above 30 stocks, only two bank shares managed to post gains, Vietinbank (CTG) and Vietcombank (VCB).
Military Bank (MBB) was the most heavily traded code, around 2.1 million shares.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index retreated by more than 2 per cent, falling to 79.91 points.
Market value during this morning's trading was VND495.8 billion ($23.6 million), or half last Friday's close. Trading volumes reached 45.8 million shares.
Habubank (HBB) continued to be the most active stock nationwide with 4 million shares exchanged
