Six new products qualify for national push
Six more items were officially added to the list of national products approved by the Prime Minister last week.

Rice of high quality, lifting equipment, network and information security products, vehicle engines, vaccines and products for national security are now considered national products.
Three others were also put in reserve, including catfish processed products, edible and medical mushrooms, and electronic chips.
The list was part of the implementation of the National Product Development Programme to 2020, aimed at developing made-in-Viet Nam products with advanced technologies. The programme's goal is to raise Viet Nam's competitiveness in the world market in terms of originality, quality and price, as well as to create higher added value. To achieve this, the enhanced application of science and technology plays an important role, according to the programme's Steering Committee.
In addition, detailed development strategies for each listed product would be drawn up together with incentives such as bank loans, taxes and land use fees to promote the products' manufacturing.
Promotional activities would also increase to gradually expand the export market.
Under the programme, at least 10 national products were set to be developed in the period of 2011-15.
Prioritised sectors include electronics, mechanics, renewable energy, new-material, environment protection and energy saving industrie
