The conference, organised by the Lao government, was attended by businesspeople from China, Singapore and Hong Kong looking to invest in Laos' high potential.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines Dr Synava Souphanouvong said the occasion was an important one in which to exchange ideas between state and private sectors to solve many problems related to business operations and the implementation of policies in Laos.
He added that private businesses are integral to the country's sustained economic growth.
In recent years, the Lao government has taken measures to invite more foreign investors as well as make all investments transparent, Dr Synava said.
In addition, it has worked hard to remove obstacles to smooth business operation in the hope of boosting socio-economic development and lessening the burden on the state budget.
He added that the conference provided an open stage on which representatives of state and private sectors could share their experiences regarding investment and development of various sectors.
T he agriculture and forestry sector, in particular, has the potential to provide many employment opportunities for local people and help to alleviate poverty step by step, Dr Synava said.
